How we got here
Twenty years of watching the same thing go wrong
Crushed Ice has been building bespoke software for UK businesses since 2003 - manufacturers, distributors, service companies, contractors. Different sectors, wildly different products, and almost identical underlying problems.
Stock levels that only exist in one person’s head. A CRM that does not know what the warehouse is doing. An HR folder on a shared drive with three versions of the same contract in it. Holiday requests on paper. A “system” that is really eleven spreadsheets and a shared inbox, and a member of staff whose actual job is being the glue between them.
Off-the-shelf software rarely fixes it, because the expensive platforms assume you will reshape the business around the software, and the cheap ones assume you have no edge cases at all. Bespoke fixes it but costs real money to build every time, and each build starts from nothing.
So we built the common ninety percent properly, once, as a product: Cube Systems. CubeERP for the operational side of the business, CubeHR for the people side. Both on one data model, both fully open over an API, and both designed on the assumption that the last ten percent will need building specially, because it always does. CubeCRM followed for sales and service teams, on the same data model as CubeERP, and CubeMSP for managed service providers. A handful of smaller apps, like Kept, Trophy and Signed, came out of the same workshop.
How we build
The rules we set ourselves
These are not marketing values. They are the decisions we made at the start that we now have to live with.
Shared where it helps
CubeERP and CubeHR share a single view of your people, sites and structure, and CubeCRM shares its customer records with CubeERP. CubeMSP and the smaller apps stay focused on their own jobs, with no forced suite.
Open by default
Every module exposes a documented REST API and webhooks. If you need the data somewhere else, you can have it - no integration tier, no per-connector licence.
Security is not an upsell
Role-based access, granular permissions, full audit trails and UK data residency are in the base product. They are not reserved for enterprise deals.
Bespoke where it matters
When part of your process is unusual, Crushed Ice sits in the same group and can build it against a documented API, rather than reverse-engineering somebody else’s database.
We say so if it is not a fit
If the platform is not the right fit we will tell you during the demo, before any implementation starts. It costs us the sale and saves you the write-off.
Built to be maintained
Software you buy once and run for a decade needs to be maintainable. Everything is versioned, migrated and documented as a matter of course.

Configuration
Your structure, sites, roles, approval chains, document templates and permissions set up to match the business - not a demo tenant with your logo dropped on it.
Data migration
Existing records brought across and reconciled: customers, stock, bills of materials, employees, holiday balances, contracts. We migrate, you check, then we cut over.
Training & rollout
Role-based training so people learn the parts they actually use, with a pilot team first where it makes sense. Documentation and short screen recordings left behind for new starters.
Ongoing support
UK support from the people who built the platform, with a named contact, agreed response times, and a product roadmap you can influence.

Cube Systems is the product arm of Crushed Ice Group. Its sister company, Crushed Ice, handles bespoke development, integration work and everything that sits outside the product, which means the awkward requirement you have does not need a second supplier.
It also means we can build a subscription product for somebody else from scratch: see product development.
